Props to Mike Schultz of Shultz Outfitters for having a two page shout out.
Here are a few photos from Alaska Fly Anglers first trophy rainbow. Fay, Dave and Phil from the shop had a great trip on the American catching rainbows, grayling and lots of char. They are all ready talking about re-booking a trip for next year so if you’re interested in a early rainbow trip you’d better contact John now to reserve your spot.
Trout Opener is a week away. Start filling your box with Henny’s & Small Black Caddis. Here is a great emerger pattern stolen from the guys @ Hawkins Fly FIshing – Click the link and they’ll give you step by step instructions.
Here are a few shots of what Alaska has to offer in April. I’m not sure many people book trips in April but the fish look pretty spectacular. These fish were all caught using a large black leech called the “Willie Nelson” on the Kenai River. Click here for John’s Blog and the Pattern. <LINK>
Here is a report for the Pere Marquette from our freind Jeff Hubbard @ Outfiitersnorth.com
The last couple of weeks we really needed water in the river and our prayers were answered. The river now is up with a nice stain to it. Over the weekend it was really high but still fishable by my standards and the fishing was great. Actually last week overall we had really good fishing with a really good bite. As the water was rising by Thursday I started to see fresher fish in the pools, so things should only get better. You can find fish now in gravel areas and pockets or in the deeper pools and runs. Flies last week were Stones before the water came up and Clown Eggs in a various colors but Hubba-Bubba was on fire when the river was raging. We did hit a couple fish on streamers as the water was on the rise Thursday but they didn’t cooperate. The fly though was a purple/black Intruder style fly. Streamers should get good not only for Steelhead but Brown Trout in the next couple of days as the water starts to drop. If interested in some Trout fishing send me a e-mail I’m now booking for spring and summer trout.
Here are a few pictures from our trip down to Mexico. I guess the 3rd trips the charm…
More pictures of the trip soon to come. We landed a total of 7 Permit between 6 anglers.
Here is an interested post from our friend Alex from up North on FaceBook.
“3/0 gama in my neck. not good”
Alex and a few trout bums are down in Arkansas chasing big trout with some pretty big streamers.
Maybe the need to add keep away from fly casters? Maybe Buff’s should consider making a Streamer Proof neck guard. So far they’ve landed two fish over the 20 inch mark so I guess it’s worth the pain.
