Simms Fly Fishing – Midwest Tour

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

They didn’t stop in East Lansing for some reason???? But, they did manage to catch some sweet footage around Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin. Maybe they’re waiting for football season to start. You’ll see some familiar faces from the video like Jeff “Bear” Andrews, Todd Fuller and Brian Pitzer.

The video was shot and edited by Beatie Outdoor Productions

Now that’s a TROUT!

Rickey with Brown taken mousing Up North!
I my opinion this is a TROUT definition of a “TOAD”.
Congrats nice fish!

Finally Warm Water!

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

Finally the Grand River, Looking Glass and Red Cedar are starting to fish!  The water levels are in good to great shape and Smallmouth are taking the fly!  I had 2 customers that were out yesterday afternoon and they caught 70 between the 2 of them.  GAME TIME!  Get out and fish locally this weekend!

South Branch Report

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

Tommy was able to fish the South Branch last night. Finally it’s fishable after the entire month of June was crossed off in most anglers books. Still waiting for a report…although I did get a text mentioning he caught a BAT towards the evening.

First Alaska Trip

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Here are a few photos from Alaska Fly Anglers first trophy rainbow.  Fay, Dave and Phil from the shop had a great trip on the American catching rainbows, grayling and lots of char.  They are all ready talking about re-booking a trip for next year so if you’re interested in a early rainbow trip you’d better contact John now to reserve your spot.

Pere Marquette Report

Saturday, June 26th, 2010

Here is a report from our friend Jeff Hubbard @ Outfitters North

The Pere Marquette Trout fishing and Trout fishing around the area is still in full swing up here. The Hex fishing on the PM has been sporadic with bugs being inconsistent. Some nights are better then others. Night fishing with Mouse Flies has been picking up with the more humid weather were having. If the night bite isn’t your thing the day time fishing has been great. Some good quality fish this year have been taken before the lights go out. Look for Terrestrial fishing to only get better in the months to come. If interested in some Fly-Fishing for Trout on the Pere Marquette I have a couple days left in August.

Pics 6/15,16,18,20: Barry joined me for a couple memorable days on the water with great fishing, wildlife viewing and no Anglers to be seen. Barry holds this trophy Rainbow caught on a Hopper Pattern. Here he is with a trophy Brown taken on a big Stimulator at dark. Barry spotted this little guy tucked up on the bank. (: These two Trout Bums did some hardcore night fishing this weekend. One day fishing till it was time to get Breakfast. Rich holds a really nice Brown taken on the Hex and Matt with one of his biggest PM Browns taken on a mouse pattern.

Celebrate the River & Rusty

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

From: gateslodge.com

April 25, 11 am, Gates Au Sable Lodge, in the “casting” field.

We’ll have a large tent and a number of chairs for folks to be comfortable in, but I’d also recommend wearing “weather specific” clothing if the weather is nasty.  Waders will be optional (that will be hendrickson time after all!).  Food and drinks will be served sometime around noon.  After that: relax, converse, go fishing, celebrate the river and Rusty in whatever way seems appropriate  The Anglers of the Au Sable is sponsoring and organizing this event.
