SAGE TXL-F Fly Rod

Sunday, August 29th, 2010

Here is a sneak peak of the new Sage TXL-F fly rod for 2011.  A few models are available now for purchase.  If you want the ultimate rod to product light tippets this is the rod for you!  Using Micro Ferrule Technology Sage was able to lighten the old TXL and make the rod more sensitive.  It also adds a snub nose, halfwells grip for great fell while casting.  Check out all the new models at nomadanglers.com.  LINK

Grand River Smallies

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

After months of spring/early summer rain the Grand River is finally looking good and starting to produce some great warm water fishing. With water levels above average but by no means too high sub surface action for smallies has been picking up rapidly. I have been doing well over the last two weeks fishing sinking lines with white streamers with plenty of flash. Tequeelies and crayfish imitations have also been producing during the day. Towards dusk fish are starting to key in on the abundance of white flies that have been consistently hatching and there has been a tremendous amount of top water action. Stop by the shop or call (517) 349-6696 to learn more about the Grand River.

Simms Dry Creek Day Pack

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

I found this bag is the perfect for tromping around at night mousing.  It alows me to carry my big SLR camera without having to worry about getting it wet.  It’s straps are comfortable and size is just about perfect for day outings.  You can also add the small chest pack to the front for a large fly box and a few other tackle items.  Also, the bag has rod holders on each site that can be used for water bottles as well.  <Click.Buy.Fish>

More than just a great fitting day pack, it easily converts into a multi-functional fishing system by attaching one of our Dry Creek™ or Headwaters™ packs.

Celebrate the River & Rusty

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

From: gateslodge.com

April 25, 11 am, Gates Au Sable Lodge, in the “casting” field.

We’ll have a large tent and a number of chairs for folks to be comfortable in, but I’d also recommend wearing “weather specific” clothing if the weather is nasty.  Waders will be optional (that will be hendrickson time after all!).  Food and drinks will be served sometime around noon.  After that: relax, converse, go fishing, celebrate the river and Rusty in whatever way seems appropriate  The Anglers of the Au Sable is sponsoring and organizing this event.
