Pere Marquette River Report

The Pere Marquette River water level is coming down and clearing. Trout fishing has been decent, some days are better then others. A lot of the fish are pretty fat and full with all that rain we had over a week ago. Started to take some nicer fish towards the end of the week. Streamer fishing was the method of choice last week with the higher dirtier water. Dry Fly fishing should be in full swing though this week as the water is clearing and we are seeing some Gray Drakes and Sulphurs now. Look for these hatches to really take off with the warmer weather forecasted. If interested in some summertime Trout fishing I have these days left in June. June 18,19,26,27. March Madness – Brown Trout Ed.
While many anglers are out chasing Steelhead a few are tossing chunks of meat(HUGE Streamers) for "jungle hogs"(BIG BROWN TROUT) around the state. Here is Jeff C. with some evidence of early season streamer fishing for brown trout. Notice the BLUE trucker hat from this post and the last post. Might be the lid to have for 2012 based on the fish it's producing. 27" on the tape.

Dog Days of Summer
We've hit the end of the summer...most of the major hatches are done but there is still plenty of opportunities out there for trout.
You've got Tricos, Terrestials and of coarse "Hair Balls" at night. Only word of advice is to make sure you handle and release the fish ASAP due to the warm water temps.
