Early Season Trout Fishing

I had a chance to get out yesterday and do a little early season trout fishing. The streamer bite was decent, i managed to land a few browns, and turn a couple bigger ones early, as the day went on more and more bugs were popping and fish were looking up, so i slapped on a floating line went to work on the fish feeding on the surface.  It was a nice change of pace from steelheading and a good sign of things to come in the next few weeks. The bugs i saw included Hendricksons, BWO's, and Stoneflys.

Tight Lines,

Here are two pictures from our friend T.Lyons with a couple nice steel from the Big Manistee.  He was fishing with Jon Ray from Hawkins Fly Fishing when he caught these chrome.  www.hawkinsflyfishing.com

These guys still have a few dates open for Steelhead trips and some prime early dates to toss some "meat" aka big streamers for some early trout.  Contact them for more information.

Also, Terry commented how much he has loved his Patagonia Guide Water Waders.

No Steel No Problem

Tommy just sent these photos over from fishing today.
I'd  take a big brown over a Steelhead anyday.

Remember fishing can still be good in December, January and February.
If you don't want to venture out by yourself hook up with one of the guides from
Hawkins Outfitters or Outfitters North and have a good day on the river.  They usually run some pretty good deals this time of the year and they usually have heaters in the boat.
