Steelhead fishing in the Grand River and surrounding tributaries has been good, but the weather continues to dampen the action. There are plenty of fish around, but dropping water temperatures can make it difficult to get fish to cooperate. Nymphing egg patterns and nymphs is consistent, and swinging spey flies is an option, but not necessarily a numbers thing.

Steelhead fishing in West Michigan has been great, but the weather has been less than favorable. Egg flies and nymphs have been standard fare. The Grand River has a large number of fish, but the water temps have dropped drastically causing a lull in the action. Indicator fishing and has been consistent. Stay warm with new items from Simms and Patagonia.

September 27, 2018 - River Report

Fishing continues to be great, both locally and up north. Lots of Kings, Coho, and trout have been caught lately. There are some steelhead showing up, but the main fall run is still a couple weeks out.  We are currently at "peak" salmon fishing. There is probably another push of Kings inbound, but it's safe to say the majority of them are in the rivers and spawning. Meanwhile, the trout fishing has been incredible.  Streamer bite has been good too. What a ridiculous Spring season it's been so far. Rain, sleet, snow, hail, wind, freezing rain, ice pellets, and even thunder have made things less than predictable.  Overall, fishing has been good. Quite good actually. The Grand River and Rogue River have a good mix of winter and spring fish. Even though there are lots of steelhead around, it still feels more like early February than mid April. January 29, 2018 - January Thaw

 A weekend warm up allowed us to get on the water. Lots of fish were caught, many more were lost. We'll let the photos do the talking....     Lots of people were on the water over the weekend, and it sounded like most people got into some fish.
