Nymphs, Steelhead Flies -

This is a general purpose Steelhead fly that works all year. It's like a subsurface steelhead stimulator. Also good with a chartreuse head. Works great as the bottom fly on an indicator rig, since you can swing it out at the end of your drift.  MATERIALS:(+) add to cart Hook: Daichii 1530 sz 4 (+)Thread: 6/0 Uni Tan, Orange, or Brown (+)Tail: Grizzly Marabou Tan (+)Rib: Copper Wire Med (+)Body: Ice Dub Pheasant Tail (+)Legs: Brown Mallard Flank (+)Head: Steelhead Orange McflyFoam (+) --> ADD ALL TO CART <-- Start with a thread base, run it back to the hook bend. This is the KRILLA. It's a pseudo shrimp/krill type fly that imitates some of the food items Steelhead eat in Lake Michigan. Apparently they forage on species of freshwater shrimp in the big lake. I've only heard rumors of this, and not sure if it's even true. But either way, this fly works. It's something different they have never seen, and looks very edible to the eye of a fish. I've kept this thing under wraps for 2 years now, but have decided to share it. Hope you like it.  MATERIALS:(+) add to cart Hook: 1530 sz 8 (+)Thread: Veevus 6/0 Fl. Orange (+)Eyes:...

Can't go wrong with a stonefly for steelhead. This Fall-specific color scheme has taken some fish over the past few years, and of course is just a template. Nymphs, Steelhead Flies -

This is a simple steelhead nymph that works all year long. It mimics a small hex nymph, golden stone, brown drake nymph, and just looks generally edible. The Nymph Flash Brushes from Renzetti make a quick brushy body with very little effort. They come in a few very nice colors, and are super versatile for any large nymphs commonly used for steelhead.  MATERIALS:(+) add all to cart Thread: Veevus 6/0 Fl. Nymphs, Steelhead Flies -

This is a nice little hex nymph pattern that has tons of movement, which steelhead have a hard time ignoring. Even though it takes a bit of time, this fly is worth it. But save it for the spots you know. The last thing you want to do is send it right into a pile of wood on your first drift. These wiggle type patterns have saved the day for us on many occasions.  MATERIALS:(+) add to cart Hook: Daichii 1760 sz 6 (+)Thread: 6/0 Uni Tan, White, or Brown (+)Rear: 20mm articulated shank (+)Eyes: Large Mono Eyes (+)Tail: Pheasant Tail Fibers Natural (+)Body: Crustacean Tan...
