This is a general purpose Steelhead fly that works all year. It's like a subsurface steelhead stimulator. This is the KRILLA. It's a pseudo shrimp/krill type fly that imitates some of the food items Steelhead eat in Lake Michigan. Apparently they forage on species of freshwater shrimp in the big lake. I've only heard rumors of this, and not sure if it's even true. But either way, this fly works. It's something different they have never seen, and looks very edible to the eye of a fish. Can't go wrong with a stonefly for steelhead. This Fall-specific color scheme has taken some fish over the past few years, and of course is just a template. This is a simple steelhead nymph that works all year long. It mimics a small hex nymph, golden stone, brown drake nymph, and just looks generally edible. The Nymph Flash Brushes from Renzetti make a quick brushy body with very little effort. This is a nice little hex nymph pattern that has tons of movement, which steelhead have a hard time ignoring. Even though it takes a bit of time, this fly is worth it. But save it for the spots you know. The last thing you want to do is send it right into a pile of wood on your first drift.
