PANDEMIC
We are in the midst of a pandemic! The Midwest Fly Fishing Expo in Warren this weekend has been cancelled, and the same goes for the Ultimate Sport Show in GR next week. For now, both shops will remain open. It seems to us that fly tying and fishing are fairly legitimate forms of social distancing.
Please keep your local shop in mind in the coming weeks. Remember that most of our inventory is on our website and we SHIP FOR FREE. If you cant find it on our website and would like it shipped to your house, give us a call and we will be happy to help!! Check out our MATERIALS page, or call us during business hours and we can mail out anything you need. Again we offer FREE SHIPPING on any order placed on our website!
Now for the fishing report... Steelhead are here! No doubt about it, the Spring run has started in full force. There are still lots of winter fish that have started to spawn, but way more chrome fish have showed up over the past week. We got a nice statewide hit of rain 3 nights ago, which will lead to even more running in. Should be a fun rest of the season, and we are really looking forward to some trout fishing.
Steelhead have been taking small black stones, orange and gold eggs, parr, alevein, caddis, pheasant tails, and hex. Lots of buffet items right now, which makes things fun.
Congrats to Ryan for getting paid on the streamer program!
Should be an awesome season ahead of us. If the weather holds, we could be in for an early dry fly program. Until then, the streamer and nymphing stuff will keep us plenty occupied. We are also looking forward to some Smallmouth stuff, which is coming into view very quickly with the heat. The Spring is always a very exciting time because everything is "waking up" and suddenly tons of fly fishing opportunities appear. Before you know it, the little black stones will be the first dry fly opportunity, and it should be here very soon!
We have a huge number of Echo euro nymphing rods in stock. Get your outfit dialed in before trout season really kicks off!
Here's a quick video of the Pats Rubber Legs Euro Jig. We use these all the time for the point fly (anchor fly) on the euro rig.
Thanks for the support! Catch fish, not Corona virus!
