July 21th 2022 Bass Report
This weeks fishing report is going to be short and sweet! Last weeks rain storms really got the small mouth fishing to heat up more than it has been. With the water levels coming up a little from the rain and a good light stain to the small mouth rivers around Grand Rapids. It brought some of the best fishing we have had in a couple weeks now. On Saturday my client was able to connect on some really good fish on dragon flies (damsel). This time of the year dry fly fishing for smallmouth can be very good. It's different but a lot of fun for people who normally just throw poppers and little streamers for bass.
I will say that stain and water level rise put the big fish in a better mood than a week ago. On Monday my clients landed one giant and we moved a ton of fish over that 19-20 inch mark which is a huge change in the fish behavior compared to last week. All the fish caught and moved were on big streamer patterns, anywhere from game changers, flatliners, tequeely's, and some natural colored 4 inch streamers.
If anyone is interested I do have days open for guided small mouth trips in July into August! For more info check out our guided fly fishing trips page or email me at Christian@nomadanglers.com
