August 29th | Summer Fades
As we wrap up August and look ahead to September, it feels like summer is fading. Nights are getting cooler and thats been a welcome change. Water temps have finally cooled down and the trout fishing has been steadily improving.
Nymphing for trout has been excellent lately, and large stonefly nymphs have been the ticket. Check out this tutorial for a quick easy pattern that is one of our favorites this time of year. Try tying it with a tungsten bead and a few wraps of lead for euronymphing.
Hopper fishing continues to be productive, cover water and pound the banks.
Smallmouth fishing is still going strong, and as fall approaches our anadromous friends are starting to show up. King salmon are around in some systems, but not in huge numbers. Stop by the shop to gear up for the next chapter of the fishing calendar.
Good luck to everyone getting out on the water to enjoy the long weekend!
