High cold dirty water continue to plague us this season. It's making things quite difficult, but some days have been really solid. Couple people we have talked to had some really good days last weekend. There are fish out there, but you really have to work for them. Not only are the fish pretty lethargic most days, but getting flies down to their level, and convincing them to eat has been a challenge in it's own right. Most people we talk to have said the same thing all across the state.

The past few days have been quite cold, with highs only in the teens. Windchill yesterday was close to zero. Water temps are dropping even lower, and the levels are finally leveling out from the rain Monday. Up north got much more than we did here in GR, so hopefully by the weekend the rivers are more approachable.

Not much else to add right now. Golden and Cream colored egg patterns, paired with a stonefly or hex is a safe setup. Here's a quick step by step tutorial for a cool pattern. The Hotcore Hex

Trout bite is always an option. Small stoneflies, pheasant tails, caddis, and eggs have been working fine. Find the slow deep stuff, and you'll likely find a few fish chilling in there. They eat it very softly most of the time, so stay focused!

If you want to step up your nymphing game this year, ask Santa for the Echo Shadow X. An absolute gem of a tightline rod! Read our review HERE

Both shops are loaded with great Christmas Gifts. If you need some ideas, check out our homepage for gifts organized by price. For someone who has everything, it's hard to beat a gift card!
