I sent out a text to the crew on Thursday: "Anyone want to fish tomorrow?" All I got back was "I wish, man" or "I'll be tied up with work". I'd be flying solo. I don't mind fishing from the boat by myself from time-to-time. It can be very meditative, and I'm able to explore different spots that we'd normally ignore. Usually I end up casting to a void, but sometimes you end up discovering new "ninja" spots that no one fishes. I digress... I launched the boat at first light with nothing but two spey rods in the boat....

Lately on most river systems we've been playing the game "how low can we go" most of our river systems haven't seen rain in over 2 weeks. Any that have, never got any real rain water in the headwater sections. This has left the rivers in very rough shape for our migratory fish. Most runs are a week or so behind and have been small steady trickles of fish with no real pushes. Cooler nights have helped bring water temps down and bring in more salmon and a few early steelhead in the lower state rivers. Despite the conditions fishing...

Well it was spring weather for a short while but as I am writing this report it’s snowing. But with all this change where does it put us in the steelhead run… Well from everything I have seen down town Grand Rapids and on the Rogue we are right in the peak of the run. With the rain in the forecast on Friday, rivers will once again be on the rise which could bring us another push of fresh fish. So far this spring the run has been a lot of fun personally and with clients we have done very well this...

Good afternoon everyone, just doing a quick little check in fishing report! Steelhead fishing has been steady throughout the state, for the most part the fish being caught have been there a while, not a ton of new fish showing up yet but that should change this weekend. With heavy rains forecasted for tonight and tomorrow there's going to be a huge push of steelhead from the lakes up into the rivers. So if you plan on fishing this weekend it should be very good, so get out there!!! The Grand River is running at 6,500 cfs right now, which...

Another week of mixed weather here in GR. We got a load of rain early in the week followed by a couple of nice and relatively warm days. But it looks like winter is going to rear its ugly head again tomorrow with several inches of snow in the forecast. After this weeks rain and snow melt, rivers are running high and dirty around here. As I write this the Grand River is over 9000 cfs in Grand Rapids. The Rogue is above 700 cfs but appears to have crested. High water will make wading tricky this weekend so exercise...
