Fall is on the horizon. Shorter days and crisp mornings have returned, at least for now. The cooler overnight temps have been great for trout fishing. Shop staffer Drew got out for an early morning of Euro Nymphing and found a few nice players. Small nymphs and light tippet has been the ticket. But soon enough the egg buffet will be back open and the trout will be the first in line. Reports have been rolling in of King Salmon in the lower river. Now the question is where does that leave the dry fly fishing as of right now? Well, we are hearing reports from our friends around the Au Sable area there were a couple of hennies out and about but no fish keying into them...

Once again it’s that time of the year when we say goodbye to the steelhead that filled our rivers since October! It has been a great season by all accounts. I would like to thank all my clients that fished steelhead with me this year, definitely had its ups and downs but over all it was an awesome season! Now where does the season actually stand for the remaining days? Well, a lot of fish are up on redds doing what they came up river to do. There are a few fresh fish around but it seems to be the very tail end on...
