July 26, 2018 - Finally Rain
After a prolonged spell of incredibly hot and dry weather we were finally blessed with some rain and cooler evening temperatures over the past week. With a few days of overcast skies, and the rain providing rivers with a much needed shot of cool water, trout fishing picked up a bit. Nymphing in the morning has been productive both locally and on northern trout streams.
The terrestrial bite is also improving, try fishing a big hopper with a nymph dropper for the best of both worlds. Hippy Stompers, Purple Patriots, and Missing Link Caddis are also great summertime prospecting patterns.
Bass fishing has also been good on the Rogue River, Grand River and Thornapple River. Baitfish patterns, Tequeelies and other rubber leg buggers have been most productive during the day.
The weekends forecast looks beautiful, get out and enjoy what Michigan has to offer!
