This is finally the time of the year we all have been waiting for, sunny warm days cooler nights! Bugs are hatching, trout are rising, bass are eating poppers life is good! Bugs bugs bugs! Hennies are falling, fish are eating, there’s not much else to say besides go fishing it’s dry fly season! We have had good warm up in temps which is helping us so much with bugs right now. Trout opener is tomorrow! So get ready to head back out to your favorite creek and small stream that has been closed for half the year! With the way the weather has been treating us its no surprise we have a huge rain storm moving in today. It seems its going to rain from Friday all the way to Tuesday which is no fun at all due to the water levels finally coming down and leveling out! Well I have good news and bad news… Bad news first, spring tricked us again into thinking we were headed strait into early summer full of dry flies and smallmouth bass. Good news is the cold spell looks as if it’s going away by Monday, with temperatures heading back up to 50-60 degrees (aka) normal spring temps! Now the question is where does that leave the dry fly fishing as of right now? Well, we are hearing reports from our friends around the Au Sable area there were a couple of hennies out and about but no fish keying into them...

Once again it’s that time of the year when we say goodbye to the steelhead that filled our rivers since October! It has been a great season by all accounts. I would like to thank all my clients that fished steelhead with me this year, definitely had its ups and downs but over all it was an awesome season!
