Warm days are back and the bugs are here to stay! Dry fly season has gotten off to a good start with a good number of bugs showing up and some bigger trout working those bugs, its been a lot of fun. Hendricksons are winding down up north, but brown bugs and sulfurs are next up on the menu. Similar story downstate on the west side. Well happy Tuesday everyone, I hope everyone had a safe and happy fourth of July. With it now being almost the middle July we say goodbye to our big bug season of hatches, but don't be sad we now move into some fun mid day dry fly fishing... the famous terrestrial season is hot and heavy. Summer nights are officially here and trout fishing has been steadily improving. Bugs are in the air and trout are rising in the evening with regularity, finally. Don't forget your headlamps like I did this weekend, you are going to want them as we start fishing later and later into the evenings. The Big Dance | Hex Hatch
The hex hatch is a unique experience in Northern Michigan that can drive someone crazy. Some individuals plan vacations around some people skip sleep and drive north after work and return home before sun rise. It is not until you "hit it" that an individual gets what all the hype is about. Many rivers got the first taste of bugs over the past few nights and should continue for the next 10 days.
