Well happy Tuesday everyone, I hope everyone had a safe and happy fourth of July. With it now being almost the middle July we say goodbye to our big bug season of hatches, but don't be sad we now move into some fun mid day dry fly fishing... the famous terrestrial season is hot and heavy. So grab those hoppers and stimulators, head to the river find some thick nasty log jams and start casting! With the mid days being so bright from the sun those fish are tucked into the nasty thick jams and over hanging trees to give them a break from the sun, so be prepared to get stuck and lose flies. We have been having great luck on smallish hoppers, colors of the hoppers vary per water color and sun light level when on the water. Here are our top picks for right now-

With a lot of local rivers being too hot to fish for trout I have been taking most of my clients Smallmouth fishing! Which has been a ton of fun over the last 3 weeks, with a lot of the bass keying in on poppers and dragon flies, the top water bite has be some of the best it has been all year. Most days it has been a numbers game with a few nice ones mixed in, the bigger ones have been seen and have followed up with the water being so warm even those small mouth can feel it / get effected by those hot summer days.

If you are interested in Guided Smallmouth or Trout Trips I still have dates in July open. Also call or email me for dates for salmon, steelhead, and trout trips in the fall those fill up fast. For more information feel free to email me at Christian@nomadanglers.com
