Trout and Steel have been great lately, and the weather has been very cooperative. No huge rain storms recently have allowed the water to reside, and stabilize nicely. We actually got a good amount of melt last week, and some of the water temps really dropped because of it. Still, fishing has been good, with plenty of solid outings. Steelhead are on the move, and are starting to fan gravel in areas, which is very early. If the weather stays the same, we could see a very early arrival of the Spring fish, which are just starting to show up....

Happy New Year! Thanks for all the support last year! Fishing has been pretty good lately, up until we got absolutely blasted with rain a few nights ago. Grand Rapids received over 2.5 inches of rain very quickly. Most of the rivers in West Michigan right now are still quite high from that storm system, but are receding and should be in better shape soon. Looks like the month of January is going to be warmer than average. Always nice having a mild winter, since it makes steelhead fishing so much easier. Hopefully we don't have a repeat of last...
December 18th | Merry Fishmas
Merry Fishmas to all! Steelhead fishing has been pretty darn good with the little warm up over the weekend. Water was about perfect, with a slight stain and a nice level. Fish were active and playful. Mainly on bright clown eggs and hex flies. Trout bite was good too. Stoneflies and caddis were working fine. The rest of this week looks to be pretty chilly, but by the weekend it should warm up, and stay that way for the rest of next week. Should be good for some Christmas angling! Not much else to add on the steelhead front. Fish...
December 12th, 2019 | Winter Bliss
High cold dirty water continue to plague us this season. It's making things quite difficult, but some days have been really solid. Couple people we have talked to had some really good days last weekend. There are fish out there, but you really have to work for them. Not only are the fish pretty lethargic most days, but getting flies down to their level, and convincing them to eat has been a challenge in it's own right. Most people we talk to have said the same thing all across the state. The past few days have been quite cold, with...

After the high water, the rivers are finally starting to stabilize and level out. The rain has changed to snow, and we are looking forward to some seriously chilly weather. Early next week will be very cold, but thankfully, there are no major rainstorms predicted so the water levels won't be impacted at all. There are plenty of steelhead in the rivers, and fishing overall has been pretty solid. Sometimes it takes all day to find one, but hard work is generally rewarded. November is a special month. The steelhead are aggressive, and haven't quite settled into their winter spots....
