March Madness

March is typically a month filled with madness at the shop with piles of new product coming in daily, multiple trade shows and the rivers on the verge of blowing out with snow melt and a freak rain storm.  After a complete year of madness, this March has started out with some consistency and is bringing high hopes for a great 2021.  The rivers across the state are in good shape with steelhead numbers increasing daily in most systems. With the slowly increasing water temps, barring an extreme water event, steelheading should remain steady well into April. Eggs, stoneflies, green caddies and alevins should fill your box for success over the next few weeks.  Go to our YOUTUBE PAGE for some proven steelhead fly patterns.

Steelhead is on the top of the list for most anglers during this month but many are starting to target early trout Euro Nymphing or streamer fishing as the water temperatures rise. Trout bite has been steadily improving, and with some luck we will be fishing dry flies in no time.

Shop Updates - As fishing is improving across the state, and there seems to be a light at the end of the pandemic tunnel, both shops will be adding more hours this week. East Lansing is now open on Saturday from 10-2 and Grand Rapids 10-4pm on Saturday.  Inventory is still a bit of an issue with many supply chains screwed up around the world.  We are doing our best to fill holes in both gear and fly tying materials but some items are just near impossible to track down.  That being said thank you for all your support of the shop over the last year both in store and ONLINE - we all truly appreciate you shopping LOCAL.
