Summer Bugs are here, over the weekend the brown drakes showed up in full force. A group of the Nomad Anglers crew sent it up north to chase the falling brown drakes with some success. Plenty of bugs around and fish eager to feed. Brown drakes are winding down now, and I would expect the big bugs to start any day now. Isos are starting to show up in fishable numbers as well. Well the heat wave is still here, water levels are way down and water temps are on the rise. We are in need of some rain ASAP!!! Where does that put us with bug hatches right now? With the high temps things are happening late, and hatches are going to go quick. Hopefully next week's cooler temps will put the brakes on a bit. This is finally the time of the year we all have been waiting for, sunny warm days cooler nights! Bugs are hatching, trout are rising, bass are eating poppers life is good! Warm days are back and the bugs are here to stay! Dry fly season has gotten off to a good start with a good number of bugs showing up and some bigger trout working those bugs, its been a lot of fun. Hendricksons are winding down up north, but brown bugs and sulfurs are next up on the menu. Similar story downstate on the west side. Bugs bugs bugs! Hennies are falling, fish are eating, there’s not much else to say besides go fishing it’s dry fly season! But in all seriousness this fishing report is going to be short and sweet, the weather is finally playing out like it should in May. We have had good warm up in temps which is helping us so much with bugs right now.
