Trout opener is tomorrow! So get ready to head back out to your favorite creek and small stream that has been closed for half the year! With the way the weather has been treating us its no surprise we have a huge rain storm moving in today. It seems its going to rain from Friday all the way to Tuesday which is no fun at all due to the water levels finally coming down and leveling out! Heading out this weekend it seems its going to set up really nice for streamer fishing again like last weekend! All the fish...

Well I have good news and bad news… Bad news first, spring tricked us again into thinking we were headed strait into early summer full of dry flies and smallmouth bass. Good news is the cold spell looks as if it’s going away by Monday, with temperatures heading back up to 50-60 degrees (aka) normal spring temps! Now the question is where does that leave the dry fly fishing as of right now? Well, we are hearing reports from our friends around the Au Sable area there were a couple of hennies out and about but no fish keying into them...

Once again it’s that time of the year when we say goodbye to the steelhead that filled our rivers since October! It has been a great season by all accounts. I would like to thank all my clients that fished steelhead with me this year, definitely had its ups and downs but over all it was an awesome season! Now where does the season actually stand for the remaining days? Well, a lot of fish are up on redds doing what they came up river to do. There are a few fresh fish around but it seems to be the very tail end on...

Rain rain go away!!!!! Well happy spring everyone! Only reason I say that is due to next weeks highs! Next week Mother Nature wants it to be summer already with temps in the high 70s all week, but a lot of folks are asking in the shop is that a good or a bad thing? Well the answer is good! Less rain in the forecast will help bring these water levels down to a more manageable level to wade and fish around because right now the the trails to get down to the water are under water! And warmer weather...

Well it was spring weather for a short while but as I am writing this report it’s snowing. But with all this change where does it put us in the steelhead run… Well from everything I have seen down town Grand Rapids and on the Rogue we are right in the peak of the run. With the rain in the forecast on Friday, rivers will once again be on the rise which could bring us another push of fresh fish. So far this spring the run has been a lot of fun personally and with clients we have done very well this...
