Wow when did Michigan become so hot... With this huge heat wave and little to no rain the fishing has become tough but not impossible. We have been really watching the water temps for the last 3 weeks with a close eye due to water temps being around 68-70 degrees or higher everyday in most rivers on the west side of the state. Remember if water temps are hotter than 68 leave the trout alone and go chase bass, the trout aren't going anywhere trust me. Now if you are able to find cool enough water up north you better have your big...

Happy Monday everyone, we hope you had a fun and safe trout opener this weekend. Heading head first into this week and weekend, there should be some really productive fishing happening in the next couple weeks, from the looks of it the weather is going to be really nice to us next week with temps reaching highs close to 80 degrees. With all that warm weather coming the trout should be on the hunt due to the river temps that could possibly reach close to 60 degrees across the state. With that for all the Dry Fly guys and gals...

Wow what a change of pace this weekend! Weather in the 80s was a nice change to the very cold and wet spring we have had to deal with this year. Fishing this weekend was awesome for us at the shop, The Nomad Anglers crew was able to slip away up north to chase some fish on streamers, oh boy was it a blast. We were moving fishing all day on streamers from 3 inches all the way to 8 inches and were lucky enough to hook a few. Most of the luck came from streamers that matched the bottom...

Wow what a way to start a week... Michigan never fails to surprise us at the shop, from 60 degrees to 30 degrees with snow really makes us feel spring will never come. BUT it looks like this coming weekend is going to be a hot one in the 70s, it can only seem like the trout fishing and the tail end of the steelhead will be awesome this weekend. All trout anglers get ready whether you fish streamers, dry flies, or nymphs the fish are going to be chowing down this weekend. After being out on the water all...

Rain, Rain, Go Away! After some heavy rain and melt off in the last couple weeks that has put a big damper on fishing in Michigan but didn't ruin it. With water and flows finally on the come down it has really improved the fishing across the state. Steelhead fishing is getting very good in the last couple days, with more fish actively eating and working up the river system. Hot flies for steelhead have been bigger egg flies, such as rag eggs and nuke eggs. Do not shy away from tying up some bigger and brighter egg flies than you...
