Summer nights are officially here and trout fishing has been steadily improving. Bugs are in the air and trout are rising in the evening with regularity, finally. Don't forget your headlamps like I did this weekend, you are going to want them as we start fishing later and later into the evenings.  Caddis, Sulphurs, and Gray Drakes and Brown Drakes are on the menu depending on where you are headed. Happy Monday everyone, we hope you had a fun and safe trout opener this weekend. Heading head first into this week and weekend, there should be some really productive fishing happening in the next couple weeks, from the looks of it the weather is going to be really nice to us next week with temps reaching highs close to 80 degrees. With all that warm weather coming the trout should be on the hunt due to the river temps that could possibly reach close to 60 degrees across the state. Wow what a change of pace this weekend! Weather in the 80s was a nice change to the very cold and wet spring we have had to deal with this year. Fishing this weekend was awesome for us at the shop, The Nomad Anglers crew was able to slip away up north to chase some fish on streamers, oh boy was it a blast. We were moving fishing all day on streamers from 3 inches all the way to 8 inches and were lucky enough to hook a few. Most of the luck came from streamers that matched the bottom...

The signs of spring are all around and it seems like the end of winter is finally in sight. This weekend will hopefully be the last bout of cold before warmer weather graces our future. As water temperatures begin to creep up next week expect the fishing to heat up too. Lots of good fishing reports from the last week are coming in from across the state. This Fall has certainly been interesting, and at times a bit frustrating. With August-like weather leeching into the king salmon run and scattered, short-lived rainfall across most of the lower peninsula, many of us are hoping for a long cold soak. Many steelhead anglers are happy to see lower, fairly consistent temperatures ahead.  The run of king salmon is tapering down and a few coho are being found. Steelhead numbers are increasing.
