Another week of relatively mild weather has brought us another step closer to spring. Fishing has been steady and improving after the high water last week. Although there are some cooler temps in the forecast, expect good fishing to continue through the weekend and into next week. There are a good mix of winter hold over fish and bright steelhead in the system. As expected, high water last week brought some fresh fish up river and shuffled the cards a bit. The Grand River remains quite high and dirty, though it has dropped since last week. The Rogue River has...

Another week of mixed weather here in GR. We got a load of rain early in the week followed by a couple of nice and relatively warm days. But it looks like winter is going to rear its ugly head again tomorrow with several inches of snow in the forecast. After this weeks rain and snow melt, rivers are running high and dirty around here. As I write this the Grand River is over 9000 cfs in Grand Rapids. The Rogue is above 700 cfs but appears to have crested. High water will make wading tricky this weekend so exercise...

Although it may feel like winter has returned this week, it seems like its grip is loosening. After an icy couple of days, the weather forecast for this weekend and into next week looks relatively mild. Fishing reports from the past weekend and this week leading into the storm have been quite good. There are plenty of fish around, and many of them seem to be willing to play. The bump in flows the other week shuffled the deck a bit, and brought some new fish into the system. Now that we are back down to normal flows, good fishing should...

Downtown Steelhead Fishing Good ole Michigan weather! From 50 and sunny now to 30 and snow... Michigan cant make up its mind I guess but that doesn't matter because the fishing has been really good with all the rain we got last week. I was able to sneak some fishing in on the Grand River in the heart of Grand Rapids to chase winter/spring steel. The bite was consistent with every dirty water program out there... Bright bright flies, I was indy fishing with some bigger style rag eggs to get bites in the dirty water. Chartreuse and bright orange were the...

More water, new fish. It doesn't seem very February to me outside, but we will take what mother nature gives us. Rivers across the state got a bump in flows with the rain last week. The Rogue River is currently sitting at 500 cfs and falling. The Grand River is quite high at around 6500 cfs. This bump in water should bring up our first wave of spring fish. Fishing has picked up a good bit with the push of water and the warm temps. A couple shop buddies got into some nice steelhead on the PM over the weekend. With the...
