Want to start by saying the Grand Rapids Fly Fishing Film Tour is TOMORROW! There are 2 showings, one at 4pm and another at 7pm. Our stack of tickets is dwindling fast, and by the time you're reading this we will likely be out of 4pm tickets, but still have a good amount for the 7pm show. Call us with a credit card ready and we can do it over the phone and set your tickets aside, and you can pick them up at the shop. Steelhead are strong! Feb 20th

Steelhead have been very good, with more fish trickling in each week. Still waiting on the big push of chrome, and it will be here soon enough. Plenty of fish around to keep us busy though, and it will remain that way for a while. Fish have been taken on stoneflies, hex, and simple caddis flies. Small pale eggs have been good too. The steelhead are really showing up in big numbers now. In certain areas they have started to spawn, and as more fish come inland, the spawn will really start to ramp up in the next few weeks. Our favorite time to target the steelhead is when they are staging. The prespawn season is just beginning, and goes until the first week of March or so. Seems to be a little earlier this year, but this prespawn window is very fun. There are lots of chrome fish around, and they aren't quite up on the gravel spawning yet. All the buckets...

July 3, 2018 - Shifting Gears

The Hex hatch is coming to a close, and water temperatures are warm across the state. Bass fishing is improving, and once we get some cooler weather, terrestrial fishing, nymphing, and mousing will be the name of the game for trout.
