New Year 2024!
Rob and company got out on the Muskegon for some trout fishing over the holiday break. They did pretty well, and even ran into friend of the shop Kevin Feenstra who was doing battle with a dandy.
The streamer bite started out hot in the upper river with near constant action from teener sized fish. Fishing along shallow wood and soft edges usually brought out a fish or two. 2-3 inch black streamers were the ticket, although fish were moving on other colors as well.
We had more fish chase or follow the streamer than swipe at it, and "killing" the fly usually triggered a strike as opposed to speeding up. The action slowed in the middle river as the sun came out and trout density decreased before we stuck a nice colored up male in the 20 inch range on a 3 inch black Boogieman near the end of the float.
Tons of winter tying classes coming up. Check out our Class Schedule Here and RSVP for a class today!
