This Fall has certainly been interesting, and at times a bit frustrating. With August-like weather leeching into the king salmon run and scattered, short-lived rainfall across most of the lower peninsula, many of us are hoping for a long cold soak. Many steelhead anglers are happy to see lower, fairly consistent temperatures ahead.  The run of king salmon is tapering down and a few coho are being found. Steelhead numbers are increasing. As you probably know by now, our salmon season was fantastic this year. Lots of huge fish were caught, many more were lost. It's no secret, the Kings are running strong. They are basically everywhere at this point. With the recent rains, more fish have arrived locally, as well as up north. However, most of the fish are inland and spawning. They are quite large this year, with several fish in the upper 20 pound range landed. Salmon are here! The high water brought in a wave of fresh Kings, Coho, and a few Steelhead. The sixth street dam is loaded with fish, as well as anglers. They are moving upstream at a steady pace. It sounds crazy after all that flooding two weeks ago, but we could actually use another shot of rain. But regardless of that, fishing has been awesome.
