Muskegon River Fishing Report RSS

After the last report our wishes came true and we finally received some rain.  Our local rivers all bumped up but we could still use some more water.  Current CFS has the Grand sitting at 3760cfs, The Muskegon at 1550 cfs, and the Rogue at 251 cfs.  It looks like the cooler weather will settle in for good by the end of this week.  The cooler water and air temps will hopefully bring a few more steelhead up.  The steelhead are around in our local rivers but you are going to have to put in your time, cover water, and...

Cool seasonal weather has returned and we were even blessed with some rain this week. It was not enough rain, but some is better than none. Rivers have bumped up a bit and with the cool nights in the forecast, water temps will start to slide. Increased flows and cooler temps should ramp up the bite this weekend. King Salmon are in full swing with reports rolling in of plenty of fish in nearly every river in the state.  Warm water bite has still been good and plenty have been getting out and capitalizing on these local options and ducking...

Once again it’s that time of the year when we say goodbye to the steelhead that filled our rivers since October! It has been a great season by all accounts. I would like to thank all my clients that fished steelhead with me this year, definitely had its ups and downs but over all it was an awesome season! Summer nights are officially here and trout fishing has been steadily improving. Bugs are in the air and trout are rising in the evening with regularity, finally. Don't forget your headlamps like I did this weekend, you are going to want them as we start fishing later and later into the evenings.  Caddis, Sulphurs, and Gray Drakes and Brown Drakes are on the menu depending on where you are headed. This past week has been quite good. Swing bite has been good, as well as the nymph program. Still have to work for them, but with the water temps stabilized, they have been pretty cooperative.  Fish numbers are good basically everywhere. The Grand, Muskegon, PM, White, and Manistee have plenty of fish. More are on the way in the coming weeks.  Egg patterns in Cream, Apricot, and McCheese are good this time of year as a lot of the dead eggs start to tumble.
